Multi Skills (Gardening & DIY) Team Leader (Full Time)
We are looking for a dynamic and energetic person with a broad set of practical skills to lead a small team of young people to complete gardening and handy person type jobs for our customers in their home and garden. The role of Team SpringBoard is to support our young people to grow their confidence and become job ready and so it is critical that you enjoy working with young people and have the desire to pass on your skills and experience. You will be responsible for leading on the customer jobs that you are responsible for and so must be able to assess what needs doing, complete risk assessments and ensure that it is completed to timescale and to an excellent quality. On occasion you will be working alone.
When we are not completing customer work we might be working on the Team SpringBoard Community Garden or training the young people on a variety of DIY or technical skills. You will need a flexible approach – every day is different!
A good sense of humour is essential as is a full UK driving licence. We complete Enhanced DBS checks on all of our staff.

Salary
Fixed 12 month contract with potential extension.
£16,500 - £18,000 per annum depending on experience.
37.5 hours per week. Core hours are Monday to Friday - 9am to 5pm although from time to time some flexibility may be required.

What skills and experience will you need?
- Experience in horticultural activities – we carry out a variety of work ranging from large scale garden clearances to regular garden maintenance (mow, weed and plant)
- Experience of basic DIY – for example putting up curtain poles, pictures and shelves, basic painting and decorating, fitting a toilet seat, constructing flat packed furniture
- Excellent communications skills
- Experience and confidence driving a transit sized van

Person Spec
Qualifications & Work Experience
- 5 GCSEs including English or equivalent work related experience
- Substantial work related experience
- Work related qualifications e.g. in Horticulture, Painting & Decorating, Carpentry desirable
Job Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience of using petrol driven garden tools and equipment and power tools
- Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations and requirements
- A clear and effective communicator
- Experience of dealing with customers face to face
- Attention to detail
- Self motivation and the ability to work with minimum supervision
- Confidence to lead a small team of people
- Experience of working with young people aged 15 to 25 desirable
- Basic plant identification desirable
Other requirements
- A current full driving licence
- Be prepared to undergo an enhanced DBS check
- This is a physically demanding job and a good level of fitness is required
