Team Springboard CIC - Update on COVID-19 January 2021
This is an update on our current plans and what additional steps we are taking to keep people safe while continuing our work. We hope to continue offering people the chance to be outside, get fresh air, burn off energy or simply relax during these increasingly worrying times.
We think it is vitally important to be there for people if they need us (particularly older members of our community) and we will do our upmost to counter the social isolation that more and more of us will feel over the coming months.
In addition, one of our key aims is to grow food for the most vulnerable members of our community so it is essential we keep going (particularly at the community gardens) for as long as possible to try and secure the supply of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Our priority remains the wellbeing of our staff, our customers and the wider community, so some sessions will be cancelled for the foreseeable future.
Others will continue for as long as the government advice recommends, provided we have sufficient staff to run services safely.
Currently (as of January 4th 2021) both Coventry and Warwickshire are in Tier 4 and the government advice is that volunteering can continue (in a COVID-secure way) in outdoor settings. Volunteers must ensure that they have no COVID symptoms or else remain at home and self isolate. Any volunteers in the category of 'extremely vulnerable' are being advised to stay at home.
Customer work – For the time being it is business as usual. If you have work or a quote booked in (and provided you are happy for us to attend) then this work will go ahead – with a few additional precautions:
Lakeview Community Garden – Community Roots, Coventry
All group sessions, including Allotment Tots and Young Growers, are currently cancelled.
The community garden will remain open on Wednesdays and Thursdays as usual between 10am and 2pm and if volunteers want to attend they can do so.
We will be stressing the need for the handwashing/sanitising regime and will be asking people to maintain social distancing in the garden. This will mean that attendees must be able to work independently.
All volunteers must have their own gloves.
We will not be making hot drinks or sharing food so please bring your own snacks and drinks.
Community Garden – Growing Together @ Baker Avenue, Stratford
We will be at the Baker Avenue site between 10.30am and 3pm every Thursday (weather permitting) and if volunteers want to attend they can do so.

- Staff will not go inside any buildings. If you have an external access to your garden we can still attend but if access is through a building then this work will need to be rescheduled.
- Most jobs will be completed by one gardener (quotes will be adjusted if necessary).
- Staff will follow the government guidance on social distancing, so communication will need to be from either a safe distance or via telephone. We can call you!
- Staff will be wearing gloves at all times and will not be accepting or sharing food or drinks with customers.
