Lead Gardener - Part Time or Full Time 

We are looking for an exceptional person to come and join our growing team with responsibility for leading on our customer facing work.

We are seeking an Experienced Gardener with good plant knowledge and knowledge of maintaining beautiful gardens to join an established gardening team providing a fantastic opportunity to head up our expanding soft landscaping/garden maintainence team. You will lead a small team and carry out all aspects of gardening, grounds maintenance and other horticultural work across Coventry and Warwickshire. This role is part time for between 16 and 24 hours per week but we are looking for someone to potentially grow this role to full time or grow the team!
This is a hands on gardening role and is great for someone who enjoys working outside in a variety of settings both residential and commercial.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, well organised and work well within a team environment. Good communication skills are required as well as a proactive and flexible approach to your work. You should be confident in your abilities and able to take responsibility for your team. You will be required to achieve very high standards of maintenance to ensure that the gardens and outdoor spaces are all beautifully presented.
Key responsibilities:
  • Leading a small team of operatives and trainees
  • General gardening duties such as maintenance of flower beds, digging, grass cutting, forking, hoeing etc
  • Use of horticultural machinery and grass cutting machinery
  • Lawn cutting and Edging
  • Weeding and Planting
  • Pruning and hedge cutting
  • Watering and management of watering systems
  • Pest control
  • Liaise with clients and suppliers
You will:
  • Have comprehensive plant knowledge
  • Have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent significant experience of working in garden and grounds maintenance
  • Be able to plan and delegate work in their team
  • Be conscientious, hardworking and able to thrive on physical labour
  • Have great leadership skills
  • Have excellent customer liaison skills
  • Have experience of planning and scheduling work
  • Have the ability to adhere to and enforce strict health and safety procedures
  • Have a driving licence and your own transport to get to the yard
  • Have experience of tendering
Desirable Skills
  • Experience of garden design and planning
  • Experience of hard landscaping tasks
  • Knowledge and experience of garden machinery maintenance

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: £18,000.00 to £21,000.00 full time salary (pro rate for part time) depending on experience or excellent day rate if self employed.

The successful candidate will have to complete an Enhanced DBS check.
